As a Wedding Officiant, one of the first things I did was research credible wedding industry marketplaces and professionals that I could follow and learn from. The industry is very prominent all over the world simply because people are getting married all over the world. I was familiar with The Knot which has been around since 1996. They were to go-to for brides planning their weddings when I was a wedding planner many years ago. There is also Wedding Wire. They haven't been around as long but they are stiff competition and function in a similar way as The Knot.
But then I found a real jewel in the industry - MunaLuchi Bride! Not only was I surprised, but I was excited and impressed by this multicultural wedding marketplace and publication that caters to women of color. I immediately started to follow all of their social media platforms. When I saw they were going on tour, and that Houston was one of the tour cities (Julia Ideson Library), I was so excited. I said to myself. I have to be at this event. I have to meet the people of MunaLuchi. There isn't any other wedding industry platform that exists like this one and I wasn't going to miss it.
The name MunaLuchi means Beautiful Work of God and the MunaLuchi Bride is described as being beautiful, vibrant, bold, cultured and confident.
When I arrived at the venue - Julia Ideson Library - I was immediately impressed. The dress attire requested was cocktail chic and the staff were all professional, courteous and helpful. I paid a little extra to get the VIP experience so I had a private curated tour of the venue, a face to face meet and greet with the designers and front row seating for the fashion show. It was amazing! I had no idea that the library was also a unique place to have a wedding. The inside is gorgeous and well maintained. A handful of vendors were present, nothing overwhelming (thank goodness) and the catered food was amazing. There was a live band, photographers, caterers, makeup artist, etc. All three floors were used for this experience. It was first class from beginning to end. The highlight of the evening was the fashion show which lasted about two hours. Bridal gowns were showcases, men's trends in bridal wear were revealed, a saxophonist and violinist performed and wedding singer MAJOR sang the most popular wedding song right now, Why I Love You. To be honest, I think I was the only one who didn't know who he was but I was familiar with the song. It is indeed a beautiful song.
I felt so honored to be apart of the #munaloveaffair wedding event in Houston. Other tour cities on the list are Orlando and and Charlotte. I encourage you to attend to experience a bridal event like you have never experienced before.
