Many of you know I’m located in the Houston Metropolitan area. We were devastated by Hurricane Harvey the last week of August 2017. So many people lost their homes, vehicles and engaged couples lost the wedding of their dreams. A wedding they had planned for, for so many months.
I got a call from a couple who had to move their wedding date because of the hurricane and they needed an officiant right away. They were getting married in a week! I was available and it totally warmed my heart to serve as the Wedding Officiant for Rubi and Steven. Rubi found me in a very popular Facebook Group. We spoke over the phone and we instantly connected. I remember her saying, “Wow, I’ve read your reviews and everything everyone says about you is true.” I was so humbled to hear this. I make it top priority to take my time with every couple, answer all of their questions and leave them feeling confident that they made the right decision in choosing me as their officiant for one of the most important days of their life.
I had one weeks’ notice to prepare but it was no problem at all. I specialize in last minute ceremonies. Rubi and Steven wrote their own vows to each other, they already had the marriage license, and they were doing a candle lightning element during the ceremony.
As promised I arrived 45 minutes before the ceremony to acclimate myself to the venue, meet Steven, Rubi and the parents. Everything was taken care of and well organized. I waited in a quiet place until it was time for everyone to line up.
When I tell you this was one of the most touching ceremonies I’ve done. I could barely hold back the tears. I always get so emotional during the ceremony and my voice begins to shake and everything. Now, I just keep Kleenex in my minister’s binder because I know I’m going to need it.
When Rubi walked down the aisle, she wore a beautiful veil so her face was covered but you could hear her crying as she got closer to meeting Steven. Oh my word. This lady was crying before we even got started, but that’s okay. Just to know that they couldn’t get married on their original wedding date and everything didn’t go as originally planned, she had every right to be emotional. Nothing was going to stop her from marrying her man!
